Well hello once again!
I hope your first days of school are blissful and full of good times. (okay, I'm just trying to look on the bright side...)
Well, I hope I can brighten your day a little bit with some exciting news. I don't want all my homies to be the last to find out.
Andrea and I finally shared that we are expecting a baby this spring! We are really excited! It's cool that I'm going to be a dad! Man that sounds weird!
But back to youth.
As you know, last week, a group of us got together and began planning the year ahead for U-Turn. I'm really looking forward to some new things and some classic events that we are bringing back! I love the events we do because you just don't get to do stuff like this. Ever. I remember my friends in school always asking what was happening next week at youth because their Fridays usually consisted of sitting at home watching tv, or going to a party where just about everybody got drunk and puked. Once we started inviting our friends out, they always wanted to know what was happening, because lets be honest, hanging out with good friends who actually care about you, doing some of the most goofy and ridiculous things, and having great conversations with people, is such an awesome way to enjoy your weekend!
So this year we want you to be aware of what's going on so that you can let everyone know.
So this might be a little longer, so here's what to expect if you only have time to skim this email:

--------THIS FRIDAY"S KICKOFF EVENT
This Friday is the launch of a new year. To kick it off we are bringing back a version of the wicked field game Dragon Slayer!
A couple of years ago, we remade the game to be all about Star Wars! Yes I know, we went from geeky to geeky, but I promise it is such an awesome game! Everyone always enjoys it! I know you will too!
It is a version of the game Stix and Capture the Flag combined! Doesn't matter if you are athletic or not, you will enjoy this game!
And of course, we added lightsabers to the game to make it that much cooler!
It goes from 7pm - 10:30pm, and I will be sharing a bit about myself and my story at the end of the night.

----------THIS MONTH
Sept 19th: For Jr. Highs, we are going to do a Photo Scavenger Hunt. It's been years since we have done this particular city wide scavenger hunt. Start paying attention to the small details about your city, so that you can rock it out with your teams!
Sept 26: Sr Highs, we are having a gym night! But I promise it won't be another Gym class! We are going to have a blast! We might even bust out the massive Dutch Blitz cards....
----------WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO
We have some cool things coming this year. We have a guest speaker coming to talk about missions at the end of October (24th) and the second Mini Prayer Retreat! God is so faithful and this will be a great time to spend some time in silence and prayer for those who are interested.

Holy smokes! (do people say that anymore?) I am looking forward to 180 this year. For those who don't already know, 180 is our midweek Bible study. This year we are going to take a look at the book of Corinthians. Corinthians is actually a letter that was written in response to a bunch of questions that the Church had for their pastor Paul. We will be coveirng a ton of topics. It's going to rock. This is the perfect study for new comers!
See you all there! (5 Emerson Place @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)!
