Let's get started!
Welcome back to another year of youth!
We are excited about what is in store this year. For Friday's there are some new things as well as some revamped classics.
We are excited to jump into the Read the Bible for Life study (on Wednesdays at 6:30pm at the church), and to try out some new events this year.
If you're a parent, please know that there will be a parents meeting on Monday Sept. 12th @ 7pm. This will be a chance for you to hear what our vision is for this year, as well as get connected to some opportunities to connect as a parent to the Youth Ministry. I'll put on some coffee (decaf of course). ;)
For our kickoff event, and back by popular demand, we embarking on another canoe trip! After some discussion yesterday, I'm going to bring the cost down to $20 per person. We will eat the other half of the cost so that the back to school crunch is lessened a bit.

1. Big Lunch, snacks and plenty of water to drink for the day
2. Dress for the weather:
Ø Sun hat
Ø Sun glasses

JR. High Event
Our first Jr. High event is going to be a blast. We are playing Amazing Race. For this event, we may utilize the park across the street, so dress for outside weather.

Bring some friends!
Sr. High Event
Our first Sr. High event is going to be something we have never done before! Geocaching!
Geocaching is like treasure hunting using GPS. We are looking into setting up our own SVBC geocache hunt. We are still figuring out the details on making this work, but bring your walking shoes as we will be on foot in the area!
What: SVBC Geocaching
Who: Grade 10-12
Where: Start and finish at SVBC. We will be walking in groups throughout the area.
When: OCTOBER 7th, 7-10:30 pm
****Please note the change in date of this event****
Why the change of date?
Well, we have been informed about an event in the city called Harness the River. HTR is a purity conference put on by the authors of the books Every Man's Battle and Every Woman's Battle. The conference is for men and women age 13 to seniors. A number of our team is planning to attend this conference, so we will have to move the usual event a week ahead.
I also want to invite you. If you are a parent or a teen, and are interested in coming along, please talk to me and I will give you more information about the ticket situation (I will have a small number of free tickets). For more information about that conference check out http://www.harnesstheriver.com.
This looks like it might be a great event for parents and their teenagers to attend together.
Well, that's all for now. I'm looking forward to what God has in store for us this year!
