This week

Good day to everyone!

What do you call a boomerang that doesn’t come back to you? .............A stick! Heh heh.

I hope you have all been having a decent week. I trust you are surviving the crazy coldness! I think it’s so cold that Second Cup is serving coffee on a stick!

So here’s the plan for the next couple of weeks:

Youth Quakers – Emergency Contact Form & Contests!

As the day gets closer, I’m getting more and more pumped! There are 2 important notes for YQers:

1) If you are coming to YQ, or have a friend who is, I need you to fill out an Emergency Contact Form in order to get on the bus. I have put it at the end of this e-mail, just print it off and get it to me sometime before we leave. Sooner is better! ;)

2) If you are interested in entering or checking out some of the contests they have this year, fill out a competition registration form on their website under registration. (www.briercrest.ca/yq)

  • Music & Drama (instrumental, vocal, bands, drama, dance . . .)
  • Sports (basketball, ice hockey, and street hockey)
  • Art (photography, painting, drawing, sculpture . . .)

If you want me to fax a form in for you let me know. Otherwise I’m sure you can email it to them! Awesome!

Wednesday 180 – Matthew Chapter 5 & 6

If you are reading along, read chapters 5 & 6. Think of some questions to share or cool ways that God is speaking to you through His word! This section is PACKED with stuff. If we don’t get through both chapters this week, that’s totally fine, but we will see how far we get.

I have also started a discussion in the Forums about this study: http://www.svbc.ab.ca/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=94

Friday Night – Junior Highs>Sound Rally

The craziness just doesn’t stop! This Friday we are doing a Sound Rally! It’s like a video scavenger hunt, but with sounds!

What I need is for everyone who has a device that records sound (ipods, mp3 players, cell phones, voice recorders, etc) to bring them for Friday. I also need one more driver (van if possible) to be on call in case we get a lot of people! Just let me know. Thanks!

Sr. High - Missions Fest

I wanted to let you know about a couple of things going on. For those who are not coming with us to Youth Quake, Missions Fest is going on at the Shaw Conference Center that same weekend (23-25th). I believe it is $3-$4 to get in, and it is a really neat event to check out. Also I hear that the speakers are really great this year. I heard on the radio that the Friday Night Youth Rally is sold out!!! You can check their website for more info on times. If you are interested.

******** Actually, Heather just informed me that only the youth rally costs money, everything else is free! Sweet! ********

Also for anyone interested (Jr. or Sr. high), There are a couple of concerts going on soon!

Jars of Clay, Need to Breathe, and Burlap to Cashmere are playing on Feb 22nd!! Call Blessings Christian Marketplace for more info. Also you can check out the forums (www.svbc.ab.ca/forums), Dallas has put up other concert information for you all. He also works at Blessings and might be able to pick some tickets up for you if you ask him REALLY REALLY nicely (and a Jones helps too!).

SALT – Now Student Discipleship Team!

SALT (formerly known as Student Leadership Team), will now be known as a Student Discipleship Team. We feel this better reflects our vision for this group. Remember, anyone is welcome to join. Talk to me for some more details!

That’s it for now!

Have a blessed week!

In His grip,

Justin
