Hello everybody!
It’s Wednesday, and still cloudy. Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel like you have way too much energy to be sitting at a desk all day? Well, I think I need to chain myself to the desk…
God is good.
So we had our Christmas Banquet planning meeting last night. There was only 3 youth there. So they got to make all the decisions. We tossed around some ideas and finally settled with one. And I have to say, I think everyone will have a blast (as usual)! There is a lot to do, and I will talk to everyone this week with more information where you can be involved. So mark December 9th on your calendars now…

We are finishing the study on spiritual gifts tonight. Next week we will begin our cult study.
Also if there are any topics or books that you would like to study, let me know! I am thinking about doing a study on holiness, and revisiting the evangelism unit. Those will both probably be next semester.
Friday
Jr. Highs!!! We are going to Laser Quest this week! Dawna will rock you all! See if you can take the Champ! And the person who has the highest score between Jr. And Sr. High, will get a prize! Crazy fun!
SLT
I need confirmation on three cameras and three teams. I still questions from some of you. The questions so far are great! If you need a copy of chapters 1 and 2, let me know. Also we need locations to film at. It is up to y’all. Also I need your signed expectation forms! And what are your thoughts on having a project leader? A different person for each project?
Meditate on this scripture today. It is a bit longer, but really think about what it is saying. It’s from the New Living Translation, Romans 8:5-17 (my emphasis)
“Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.”
What speaks to you from this verse? Listen to what God may be saying through this verse to you.
I love that line “But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.” The Holy Spirit is your councilor. Ephesians says
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength” (my emphasis)”.
Thank God today for the Holy Spirit. Ask that the spirit would reveal the sin in your life, and conquer it. There is life in the Spirit!
See you tonight.
In His grip,
justin
