Woot,
The sun is up and the sky is clear! I hope your summer is going well!
It is kinda weird I have so much free time in the evenings now. Andrea and I have been taking that time to relax and catch up on things around the house. This last weekend we went to visit my sister and brother in law in Calgary. We checked out the Stampede on Saturday. It was pretty cool. I haven’t been since I was ten or so. The best part was the pigeon racing! Ha ha! How bizarre.
Well, a lot has been happening with some of you. Some are busy at camp, some of you are doing Sunday school, and some have been hitting every good movie out of the theater! I would love to hear what you are doing this summer. Go to the forums and let us in on what you’ve been up to.
Kirsten and Meagan will only be with us for another few weeks. Don’t forget to get together with them before they leave. Buy them presents, take them out for coffee and lunch, exchange addresses etc. We will miss the Flemings, but God always has us in mind when He leads. Pray for them as they prepare to journey into another phase of their life.
If you feel like stopping by for a chat, to hang out, play a game of foosball, whatever, feel free. I’m here from 10 -4 tues –fri.
Congratulations to Ardyn for winning the first contest! Keep checking ‘News’ section in the forums to find out about the next contest!
Here’s a quick devo for everyone.
Read 1 Timothy chapter 1 verses 1-11
Go ahead… read it
…really it’s worth the 40 seconds…
Don’t have a bible handy? No problem! Click here to read it à (>o<)
What are three words that come to your mind when you hear these words:
lawbreakers
rebels
ungodly
sinful
unholy
irreligious
those who kill their fathers or mothers
for murderers
adulterers
perverts
slave traders
liars
perjurers (breaking an oath)
What 3 words did you think of?
Did you know that the verse you just read says Jesus came to earth FOR these people. Verse 9 says “We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for the… [insert list]”.
God LOVES these people. Man my heart when I read this list was very against these people. But God loves them. The unholy, murderers, liars, lawbreakers…
I want a heart like Gods heart; To love these people. It sure shows how far from perfection we are. Our attitude must be like that of Christ. We need to love others and point them to Jesus Christ.
Funny thing is, I looked closer at the list and I am on it! More than once actually…
Take a look. You might be surprised… have you ever lied? Sinned? Rebelled against a teacher or parent? Broken a law? Walked a life apart from God? Had lustful thoughts? Broke a promise…
God came for you. He loves you.
Say a quick prayer for yourself. Give thanks that He saw you in your mud and mire and chose to chase after you. Despite how bad we are. Wow. Then pray for a heart like God’s; to love others like He loves us. We have a long ways to go, but let us press on together.
Think about this today.
In His grip,
Justin
