one week left to pack

I have a confession to make. I had a dream last night that I found a land full of cardboard boxes, all the perfect size for packing. Pathetic isn't it?

Why is it that packing is so difficult? You’d think throwing your stuff into boxes would be quick, “they” always say it takes so much longer to unpack than to pack. I’m in trouble then, because it’s not going so well so far. We move on March 30th. T-minus 7 days until moving day, and you’d think I’d be excited. But it seems like I’m just so annoyed with packing already.

Did you know that we own 17 wooden spoons? 3 food processors, 2 toasters, 8 measuring cups, 37 dinner plates and 45 lunch plates? 4 whisks, 8 cookie sheets, 9 casserole dishes, several different assortments of plastic mixing bowls and a partridge in a pear tree. (you laugh at my reference to a Christmas carol, but little do you know, we just packed our Christmas tree away 2 weeks ago. I don’t know when we would have put it away if we weren’t moving. Probably July. It could have been my birthday tree by then. I guess the “hating packing” thing goes further than just moving).

Don’t get me wrong, I am so excited to move and have our own laundry, our own basement, our own walls even! I am sooo excited to move away from our weirdo neighbours and our questionable neighbourhood. It’s just a lot of work. Our lawyer (Sid Kobewka, Scott Kobewka’s dad) was trying to explain how much money our bank still needed, and I thought my head was going to explode. It was especially funny after a long pause when he said “am I making sense?” and I wanted to say “you probably are, but I’m just too dumb to understand”, but instead I just said “well, all I need to know is a number”. Let me tell you, if you think you can sell a house or buy a house without a realtor or a lawyer, you are just asking for your head to explode. They are so smart and it seems like they know everything. I wonder if they know which wooden spoons I should throw away.
