The body of Christ...

So I was out today with some other youth Pastors in the city and we began talking about the Church and how can be so isolated. Matthew 5:16 says that we need to let out light shine before men, and in Matthew 28:19, it says "go and make disciples". Much of our ministry is bringing the community into our church, where we can share the good news with them. Now there is nothing bad about doing this, but we need to be more active about taking the good news of Christ out of the church to where the people are. We need to be equipped to be able to take the message of the gospel and tell others.
Here is a question to think about: If you had a friend come to you and ask "Tell me what it is you believe." What would you say? Could you tell them the message of the Gospel clearly? Or would it be muddled, pieces, mixed up of the Gospel spoken so fast that they could not follow? We want our friends to hear this message and be prepared. I am not talking about the self-centered, vacuum packed, 'just add water' Four Spiritual Laws gospel, I am talking about a complete, sin confessing, God centered, Christs professing, life surrendering gospel. As Christians, we need to always be ready to give and answer for what we believe. That takes preparation and serious thought.
At 180, we will be talking about this stuff next. Hopefully we can think about this stuff together and prepare ourselves to be able to ask our friends "So, would you like to ask Christ to forgive you and come into your heart?" Imagine! How amazing to be prepared for God to use you in that way! God is good. All the time.

This is going to be a good study. I'm excited. Sometimes I'm really at a loss as to what to say when people question things like a death in their family or a tragedy. I hope I can gain some insight of my own from the study for the students. Cool.
